4WD acting odd - intermittent service light

Thanks for the help guys. I stopped receiving emails when you guys replied so i thought my thread went dormant. I was thinking along the same lines. Try the switch first for ~$30. That does make sense about the encoder motor though and the service light. I think I'll just replace the switch...

4WD acting odd - intermittent service light

161,000 miles. AutoTrak II fluid changed at 127,000 when I took possession of it. I replaced the 4wd disconnect and actuator last year with one of the "updated" ones on ebay while I was chasing a rattle noise around. That wasn't what was causing it, but the original did have slop in it. Fairly...

4WD acting odd - intermittent service light

It is the cheapest option to start with. I wasn't sure about the other issues where it would still work but give me the service 4wd light.

4WD acting odd - intermittent service light

Hard to summarize my issues in an easy title. 2003 Trailblazer LT. I've been having a few issues with my 4wd this winter. When it snows, I'll put it in 4hi to leave my neighborhood. I go back to 2hi when I'm on dry pavement (highways etc.). When I get off the highway, I often have to go back to...

    Gas prices

Anybody else get switched to winter blend? I paid $2.67, but MPG dropped about 1 to 2. Same results on my brothers FJ. Negates some of the savings.

[SOLD] OEM TBSS Rims and Goodyear Eagle GTII Tires

Damn I wish I could justify spending the money on these. Maybe if my employer wasn't screwing us on Christmas bonuses this year...

    Ended: Parting out 2004 LT

Have you pulled the motor? Reason I ask is I could use the motor mount bracket on the passenger side that goes from the block to top of motor mount.

    Gas prices

Finding premium makes sense to me. I'm a single guy with no kids so I can't rack up very good grocery store points. I have a .05 per $50 spent at a store near me. I might spend that per week, but usually don't. My parents go to a Kroger store and buy gift cards for Home Depot to rack up fuel...

    Gas prices

I hate to go off on a tangent, but gas buddy prices range from 2.90 - 2.97 on my way to or home from work and in the immediate area of where I live. If I fill up 18 gallons: 2.90 * 18 = $52.20 2.97 * 18 = $53.46 A $1.26 per tank savings if I take the time to find the cheapest. At 4 tanks a...

    should i use radiator sealant?

Just as a pro tip, fill your new radiator with water before you install it to check for leaks. You can use your hoses and point them up or something to get it to hold the water. I'll call it a learning experience, but I will never trust a cheap radiator again out of the box. I replaced the...

    Clean Headlight Haze??

There is a little know issue that you will want to plan for as well. I used one of the 3M kits on both of my parents cars. Headlights looked brand new. A few months later they call me and say they turned yellow and hazy again. The yellowing is actually a chemical reaction caused by uv rays from...

A/C stopped working, excessive pressure on low pressure side

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe the high pressure switch is a cutoff switch for excessive high pressure to stop the system from damaging itself. The ac also will not run without a signal from the high pressure switch. They are usually located in the back of the compressor housing and held...

When Did Your Fuel Pump Fail (or has it yet)??

I concur about the S10s. Replaced mine on the S10 at around 125k. My TB might still be on the original at 132k. The po didn't mention changing it and he owned it from 36k to 127k, so I'll assume its original.

    Engine Gurgling/Rough Idle on Startup

I think I have the same issue. Just seems to have started a few weeks ago in the morning. It starts fine, then the RPMs climb a little and I get some gurgling and running rough sounds for probably 10-15 seconds. If I go out back to the exhaust it sounds almost like misfires or sputtering, but...

Engine running hot, clutch fan not engaging

I guess maybe I was used to the clutch fan in my S10. It could be expected to come on any time the temp gauge went over 210. I don't have access to a tech 2 unless I go to a shop and it doesn't sound like I have a bad enough issue to worry about it.
