I'm guessing yes, but the information wasnt readily available when i went searching for it the other day, took a little digging to find. I'm assuming there may be some instances as well where you cant swap them because of the size difference. I mainly posted this so it would come up in search...

Just a quick post for google's sake, If you have a 99 suburban k1500 4x4 with the 5.7 liter engine, you can use a direct drive starter to replace the reduction gear starter (if yours was equipped with one). Its an exact fit, no modifications required. I'm not sure if there's anything different...

Changed the starter in my 99 suburban. Really not too bad to get to, I'd say only slightly more difficult than an oil change. Also repaired a stripped out side bolt battery on the same vehicle.

True, but i'd rather limit the number of additional wires in the pillars if possible. But I will do that if I need to and grab switched power from my stereo harness if there is nothing up top.

I was wondering if maybe the sun roof had something, but that also might be bcm related. I have my switches for future lighting mounted up there and the future is now, but I'm not sure what the most convenient place to get power from will be :)

Sorry to go all archaeologist on this thread, but does anyone know for sure if there is switched 12v in the upper console? Wont be much draw since I'm using it to flip a couple of relays, not actually power anything. If it helps, mine is an 06 with the sun roof and dome lights.

Nah, if it were that easy, I'd go aftermarket. The bose speakers have a 1 ohm resistance, which makes replacing them impossible without sacrificing HUGELY on power/volume or swapping the whole speaker system.

I'm an LS too son! Bose was a custom order my guess, i wish it wasnt. For the handles, i just need the drivers an passengers front door handle shroud. the oval looking thing that is darker than the rest. EDIT: If you give me a good deal on those projectors (after you fix em), I'll give you your...
