What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

Dropped Envoy off Tuesday morning, got the call last night that the leak was pinpointed to the rear main seal. Because of the time, and oversight they're going to drop the trans and replace both the seal and cover.

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

I've seen that at the dealership as well, during my brief service writer stint. I'm playing it safe, and requesting that the senior tech be the one to work on it this time. Oh I also need to remind him, I would kindly like my inspection plate put back on the bell housing since that was missing...

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

I'm good buddies with the shop manager, texted him this morning after work and was told to drop her off Tuesday morning. Gonna let him know I want the work checked over by him each step of the way. I don't want the truck leaving the rack unless it's verified to be fixed.

Electrical gremlin--ABS and brake warning light on dash

Yeah it's a bizarre way of things unfolding right? Why would the ignition switch cause one of the fan speeds to stop working on the HVAC? Who knows. Everything I've read on here, and the old site always (most of the time like 99% of it) can be solved by replacing that switch. it makes no sense...

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

Well that didn't take long, went to move the Envoy at work and saw a fresh spot of oil. Sure enough I get home, and see little droplets as it's running in the driveway. :Banghead:

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

Definitely, I'm going to keep an eye on it to make sure everything is good! I appreciate the heads up. My main concern was the fact they dropped it twice, so that helps with being on alert.

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

Got the call this afternoon the Envoy was ready, headed down to the shop and yeah. The tech who reinstalled the pick up tube, indeed pinched the o-ring causing it to not seal. So they replaced it again, and now the oil pressure is back to normal. Going to monitor the pressure over the next few...

Electrical gremlin--ABS and brake warning light on dash

I understand the frustration, it's an annoying thing to deal with. Just figured I'd throw out changing the switch again, looking through prior threads dating a few years back. Those who had issues with the ABS/Brake lights on the dash cleared it up with a new, name brand switch. That's why I...

Electrical gremlin--ABS and brake warning light on dash

With a scan tool, did your truck pull any codes regarding the ABS, and Brake warnings lights? I had a very similar problem with my Envoy. I'd have a phantom ABS/Brake light pop on on startup, or as I'm driving down the road that would go away from a restart or disappear on its own. Never set off...

    When to replace fuel pump?

Mine was still good at 193k, other then the fuel sending unit taking a crap. Ended up getting a BOSCH unit and its been rock solid ever since. Its been found that the AC Delco pumps are just rebadged BOSCH ones going off the part number stamped on the housing.

    Catalytic Converter Compatibility

They are legit, customer service/communication is on the meh side to be honest. I've had better service using GM Parts Direct. Why not just go with a universal CAT from Walker or Magnaflow and just have shop cutout the old one, and weld the replacement in? The passenger side on my Envoy went...

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

Back after almost a year of dealing with health and family issues. Had the Envoy put into storage after the oil leak got worse. Found the oil pan was leaking at the rear of the block, so I dropped her off a week ago to have that replaced along with the o-ring for the pickup tube (at 230k...

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

I found despite having a heavy duty impact, its not always enough to break stubborn bolts free. I started using CRC Knock'er Loose (sprayed everything a week ahead of time), and again while using a MAP torch and it made the job easy....aside from my least favorite part of removing/installing the...

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

Hopefully you have better luck then I did with the Moog hubs. I've had two sets, and each one suffered from the low speed ABS shudder after a few months. Timkens and SKF were the ones I've had success with so far....though the SKF lasted like 4 years before both bearings were toast. Spent this...

    Compatible blocks

I did forget about L77 as well, that's a good suggestion! Shoot. I forgot about the rear end, I thought they were the same for the 5.3 and 6.0? Decisions decisions. :undecided:
