Shudder on engine startup and shutdown

Ambient temperature will play a role in how harsh the vibration is. I noticed before I replaced the mounts on my TB that on cold mornings, the vibration was really bad. On hot days, the vibration was nearly gone.

    oil everywhere

Same thing happened on my '02, only the wife called as the Fire Department was hosing down the truck at an intersection... Luckily it was only a flash fire, oil on the exhaust ignited, and there was no significant damage other than a charred O2 Sensor Wire Harness. The Fire Department was nice...

    Gear indicator not working

I started having a similar problem to the OP. Intermittently, the indicator on the dash will not show the shifter in P, N, or D. When this occurs, R, and 1-3 are displayed when shifted. The strange thing is, the truck will not start in D, as it shouldn't. Is the neutral safety switch separate...

Vibration while at idle...at stop light or when slowing down

Since the vibration is not constant, check the belt drive on the engine, specifically the water pump, tensioner, and idler pulleys. When my water pump failed, it caused a very nasty vibration that would come and go. (probably based on fan clutch engagement) You could also have worn motor...

Having trouble to diagnose DTC P1484 Not the EV Fan, PCM???

I had this very same issue when I had my PCM updated a few weeks ago. I turned out the data interface for my aftermarket remote start was interfering. After I disconnected all the wiring from the interface and the remote start, the programming completed successfully. I also remember GM...

Grr! I hate this whining noise. Changing out power steering pump tomorrow!

After you installed the new pump, before going back to the old valve, did you still have a whining noise? I just replaced my power steering pump due to a leak at the shaft seal and a whining noise as well as the idle fluctuation you described. I replaced with the "EXT" designated pump and...

Need help with a/c problems after unhooking battery

Running rough when the A/C is on is most likely due to a dirty throttle body. Disconnect the battery again and clean the throttle body- instructions in the "FAQ" section. I had the exact same problem with the HVAC actuators you described last week when my battery went dead. Luckily, when I...

loud fan , no power and doesnt want to go above 40

To make this much easier, I notched out a section of the shroud under the upper radiator hose outlet. This way, once the shroud bolts and upper radiator hose are removed the shroud will slip past the outlet, eliminating the need to tilt the radiator and condenser.

Unable to Program PCM with Tech 2

I swapped some minor computer repairs with a local auto shop for updating my PCM in the TB to finally address some annoying issues I've been having. (stumble on acceleration, poor A/C performance at idle, etc.) We were able to get the Tech 2 to communicate with the PCM, but it failed...

    Stop Lamps Stuck On

Went to drive the TB yesterday to find the battery was dead... Jump started it with the Astro Van and let it run for 30 mins or so and the battery appeared to be holding a charge. (shut it down and it started right back up no problem) About two hours later, my neighbor calls to tell me my lights...

    engine temp

When the HVAC is set to RE-CIRC, the A/C compressor is running. This is why your heat isn't very warm. My temp sensor had an intermittent open circuit that would cause the dummy gauge to be all over the place. You could literally tap the connector and the gauge would instantly show dead on...

    Console Mode Actuator Problem?

This is how the rear system in my EXT operates... If the front control is set to "0," air flow is restricted on the console floor vents. If the front control is set to "1, 2, or 3" and... A) the front system is set to floor or blend, air flow is allowed through the console floor vents...

    Console Mode Actuator Problem?

The floor vent actuator on the console allows air flow when the rear system is set to floor or blend. The air speed and temp actually comes from the front passenger system through a duct that runs under the console. If you set the rear system to floor, (with either the front or rear control)...

If you're happy with your TB/Envoy, let me know

I've had only minor issues with my '02. I bought mine used in 2007 with 70k miles on it and now with 180k on the odometer I would have to say it's been the most reliable vehicle I've owned to date.

    Rough Idle When Cold

When the temps dropped here in Indiana for the first time a few weeks ago, I discovered my bad mounts. On cold mornings, the vibration is substantial, on warm mornings or after the temps are above 70F or so, vibration is gone.
