Weird question maybe, but I'm just curious - do we know if there are any Trailblazer parts from later model years that are compatible with earlier years which, due to whatever change was made, would be considered an upgrade?
Not a lot changed over the years. What kind of parts are you looking at? Engines had minor improvements for a little more power but that's pretty much it.

Roger that. I was just curious, didn't see a point in buying '02 specific parts if there was a better version I could get from the selection for later models. Your point about the cast iron calipers on later models got me thinking about this so I figured I'd ask.
Those aren't interchangeable unless you also replace the brackets. If you have a SWB TB, you could go with the bigger brakes from an EXT. All you would need to replace are the brackets and the rotors. The calipers and pads remains the same.
The other thing that was sorta improved was the fan clutch where in 08-09 they went to a thermal clutch. That would require tuning the PCM to turn off the codes for the EV fan clutch. Thermal is less failure prone.

Well that's interesting. Mine is a SWB, and an LTZ to boot so it came with 17" rims that should, according to a quick google search, clear the EXT rotors.
Too bad I only learned about this after ordering a rotor and pad set.
Good info on the fan clutch, will definitly consider switching it over to a thermal clutch if the current one ever craps out.
