Transmission fluid change via multiple drain and fills?

Want to replace my transmission fluid, looking for an optimal method. If I bought a transmission pan with a drain plug, could I just do the following - Drop pan, replace filter, bolt on new pan with drain plug Top up fluid, idle engine in gear for a few minutes to circulate fluid, drain via...

NEED HELP Got a tick I want to lick

Yeah, something like that. Listening to videos of other engines timing chain noise is the closest sound I've found. I swear it was quieter in the past but maybe I'm just being paranoid or noticing things I haven't paid much attention to before now that I'm really going through the whole vehicle...

NEED HELP Got a tick I want to lick

Guess I should have specified which noise I was referring to. My bad. I meant the persistent noise heard throughout the video that in retrospect is better described as a "rattle" than a "tick". It's a bit more noticeable IRL, phone camera doesn't do a great job picking it up. The sound I'm...

NEED HELP Got a tick I want to lick

An engine tick, to be exact. Hoping this is just the timing chain telling me it's tired or some other relatively non-destructive issue. Looked for 4.2L engine noise videos on YouTube and didn't find anything similar. It produced this sound before and after a drive, so being warmed up or not...

Need to end parasitic drain, tips?

So, not much to go on yet, but I did a basic drain test - pulled off negative cable, held negative multimeter lead to negative cable, positive lead to negative post on battery, and read the amp draw. It would start out around 2 amps and then drop after about ~25 seconds to .02 amps. Did this...

Replace rubber brake lines, yea or nay?

Minor complication - this gasket is no longer available. I tried ordering from that site and GM Parts Center, neither could get one. Guess I'm making one. Are these just a rubber sheet? 1/16" thickness probably?

    Transmission mounts, which brand?

Grabbed some original GM motor mounts, but the OE transmission mount appears to be unobtainable now. Part number is 15119302, can't even find a NOS one on eBay. Pic is all the available mounts on RockAuto. Are any of these brands better than the others, or are they all pretty much the same?

Need to end parasitic drain, tips?

I'm 99% sure the aftermarket Pioneer radio in my TB, installed by the previous owner, is the source of a parasitic drain the vehicle has had since I got it. Batteries can die in a week, two weeks tops if the vehicle isn't driven. Why I think it's the radio - For one, it's aftermarket, and...

Going to do oil pickup tube o-ring, what else can I do along the way?

It's a 24 year old vehicle with 198K miles on it that I wasn't particularly nice to in the past. At this point, I see it as preventative maintenance. This is more of an aspirational, far flung future project, not something I plan to tackle soon but I'd like to assemble a parts list in the mean...

Going to do oil pickup tube o-ring, what else can I do along the way?

I've decided that at some point in the future, I'm going to attempt the massive PIA job of dropping the oil pan to replace my oil pickup tube o-ring. Given that this requires taking apart the entire front differential/axle assembly, is there anything else I should do while I've got all that...

Replace rubber brake lines, yea or nay?

Inland Cali checking in, what is "rust"? Jokes aside, sounds like I'm set. Got Sil-Glyde for brake lube, seems commonly recommended. I'll stick with the standard bleed procedure and see what happens. Going to do the one-man "bottle" method - run clear tubing from the bleeder into a bottle...

Replace rubber brake lines, yea or nay?

Parts will all be here soon, want to make sure I've got the process right. Parts being replaced - vacuum booster, master cylinder, front/rear rubber brake lines, rotors/pads, front caliper brackets (exchanging to perform EXT brake upgrade), front/rear slide pin boots Process - Replace vacuum...

    The mythical GM brush guard

Apparently the '02 Trailblazers had a factory brush guard as an option, GM part number 12497605, though it was marked in the sales pamphlet as having only "interim availability". Allegedly the main mounting points were the tow hooks. Has anyone ever even seen one of these? I can't remember...

Replace rubber brake lines, yea or nay?

New question - Any recommendations on what brand/type of vacuum hose to buy to replace or make spares for the brake booster hose? I looked for direct replacements and there aren't any.
