    Ignition coil pack brand recommendation

Thanks for the video mrrsm. Although I did not have a P0174 lean fuel air condition, it was informative as to the many nuanced ways failures can occur, and has me thinking. At 200,000 miles, I changed the spark plugs and noticed some plug wells had motor oil in them, likely the result of...

    Ignition coil pack brand recommendation

I replaced a bad ignition coil 2 years ago with a Walker brand on #1 cylinder. Now the Walker ignition coil on #1 cylinder has failed.

Envoy Rear Upper Control Arm Bracket Repair

The un-welded brackets I used did not have any bracket or provision for the brake line mount. I had to make my own and wing it as to fab and dimensions which added a lot of time to the job. Believe me, you made the right choice using pre-made brackets with the nut already welded on.

Envoy Rear Upper Control Arm Bracket Repair

Definitely not weld thru primer. I tried wire brushing a few joints with a power brush but that was a lot of work with poor results. It was tough paint and It took many hard strikes to get the arc going., not to mention the ground clamp issues. 6011's go thru paint once you get the arc...

Envoy Rear Upper Control Arm Bracket Repair

2005 GMC Envoy SLT 4.2L Located in Boston area, I was hearing some knocking and assumed it was the spare tire. Upon investigation I discovered the frame was severely rotted around the rear axle upper control arm brackets on the left and right sides. The spare tire was loose too! An...

DIY Front Wheel Alignment, 2005 GMC Envoy

I think toe is best measured and checked after rolling the vehicle a few feet forward to get the correct squirm or preload on the suspension components. Instead of jack stands, a 16 foot elevated plank would do the trick. Measure toe, adjust, roll back 4 feet, roll forward 4 feet, check toe...

Replace 4 Ball Joints, 2 Tie Rods and 2 Stabilizer Links

Thanks TequilaWarrior. I took your advise and replaced the 4 upper and lower control arms, stabilizer links and 2 wheel hubs. I replaced it all with Mevotech Supreme which has a Limited Lifetime Warranty. It will be interesting if they make good on that after years of service when those ball...

GM Label Becoming A Badge For China SAIC.

I just watched a most depressing webcast. GM Will Die Soon. They Deserve It. (Engineer Explains Why) It seems that GM sold itself to SAIC for a pittance sum without realizing it, or maybe they did. Regardless, in 2027 it will be time to renew their relationship with SAIC. If they renew, SAIC...

DIY Front Wheel Alignment, 2005 GMC Envoy

Post 5 RELATIVE MODE CAMBER MEASUREMENT In this post, “Relative Mode” technique will be used to measure camber. This is a follow up of post 1 where “Absolute Mode” was used in the alignment process. Caster is measured in the same manner as described in post 1 but with camber C1 and C2...

DIY Front Wheel Alignment, 2005 GMC Envoy

Post 4 ROAD TEST In general, I am very happy with the alignment results. The vehicle tracks straight, hands off the wheel, on the interstate highway. It no longer has that fishtail sensation turning corners. It does not pull to a side. It is not touchy, as it was, to digging into turns. I am...

DIY Front Wheel Alignment, 2005 GMC Envoy

Post 3 DIY FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT BEVEL GAUGE Something is needed to measure the steering angle when making caster measurements. The turn plates move sideways as the tire turns adding to complexity in measuring the steering angle which should be done relative to the thrust line of the...

DIY Front Wheel Alignment, 2005 GMC Envoy

Post 2 DIY FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT TOOLS CAMBER GAUGE Camber gauges can be pricy, but some are surprisingly inexpensive. Rather than spend a few hundred dollars on a good one, I would evaluate a cheap one costing just $12. Nothing to lose for that price. I got a Toolwiz Camber Gauge...

    Electrical Connecter Separation Tool

You point out correctly that the locking tab is best released by prying from the back after removing the guard, but that is not the only way to release the locking tab. The problem with separating the connecter is the male and female shells do not fit as they should with a sliding fit...
