Loooooong time shade-tree DIY guy b/c I got tired of paying shops for BS substandard service and always knew more about my vehicle / problems than the shops did. Which is not to say that genuine experts worth their weight are not there. It's just that it's hard to get the good techs working on your car and even harder to get to actually talk to them.
