03 Trailblazer - No Brake Lights

In addition to the checks mentioned above, I know that the taillight circuit boards were once covered under a recall for failing. If you have not had that recall done, or if you are unsure, you may want to check with a dealer to see if you are covered by such. I know I had mine replaced twice...

    Ticking Sound In Dash

From experience, if the noise goes away if you switch the AC controls to anything other than "Auto" it is a blend door. We had ours replaced right before the warranty was up. The sound came back. We either ignore it or switch to a different AC mode.

Cruise control down hill jerk help needed

I can say that the same exact cruise issue happens on my 03 TB with the V8. Been happening for as long as I can remember. Its a bit annoying, but it only happens on long decents at highway speeds. I just tap the brakes, coast, then resume when the long descent is over.

    5.3 v8 w/ 3.73 ratio

I will say that in my TB, once I go over 70, the average starts to drop very quickly. 65MPH is pretty much the sweet spot between speed and fuel economy. At least from my experience.

Power Steering Pump Leaking - replace unit or just seal

When I filled it up last, I used some Preston PS fluid with stop leak. And so far, I dont see any new leaks in the garage. Im hoping I can just nurse it till it gets a little warmer to really dig into it and fix it right. Just trying to figure out what might be best from a $$$ perspective.

Power Steering Pump Leaking - replace unit or just seal

Hi All, My power steering pump appears to have a leak around the front seal around the shaft. What is your take on just replacing the seal vs replacing the whole unit? The pump is still good and not making any noise. Just did not know if it would be a waste of time to just replace the seal...

Oil Pressure Gauge: 40 PSI engine off, 80 PSI, engine on.

As a follow up, it was the sending unit. All is working well now. After a while, the reading just got very erratic. Had it changed out this evening. It is not in a great spot, thats for sure. Friend had to disconnect the fuel lines to get to them without taking off the manifold.

Oil Pressure Gauge: 40 PSI engine off, 80 PSI, engine on.

Hey all, This one just started happening.... 03 TB with a 5.3, Driving down the road and noticed that my oil pressure was very high. Gauge was still slightly moving with engine RPM. Key off - zero, like it should. Key on, engine off- shows around 40. Key on, engine on- shows around 70-80...

    Engine replacement

I only have a few pics and I will try to get them up here in a bit. The differences I am noticing is first, how quiet the new engine is, especially during warm up. No more ticking, no more piston slap in the morning, and it generally seems quieter on the road. Considering that this is our...

    Engine replacement

Mine is in as well and I cannot believe the difference. I also changed out the trans, transfer case, and diff fluid at the same time. It really does run like a new truck. And while it was a lot of cash, its a whole lot cheaper than buying something new and going into debt. Dont forget to...

    Engine replacement

It's a V8. The engine I got was $2750 from GM with a 3yr/100K warranty. For my situation, it really was the best choice over a rebuild. I saw places say 17 -20 hours. And to be honest, my first hand account says that is extremely conservative. Sure, there are people that can do it in a lot...

    Engine replacement

Well, I just got my truck back and believe me, it runs better than ever. However, I wanted to share a few things that may be noteworthy... - Depending on how much the engine is, and the labor cost, I think $5K is going to be a very conservative estimate, and I bet that they will lit you up for...

    5.3 v8 w/ 3.73 ratio

With my 5.3L equipped TB, it is not uncommon to average 19.5-21 MPG on a long trip. Rather consistent during my Chicago-Orlando trips with the family. I just make sure the K&N is clean, tire pressure is good, and I change the oil before the trip. Oh, and I throw a can of Techron into the tank...

    Engine replacement

Im going through this right now myself. Found that coolant got mixed with the oil one morning. Start it up - got a good knocking going on as I lightly accelerate. Bought a brand new crate engine from a Chevy dealer near St. Louis. $2750 shipped to my door + $300 core. (NW Indiana.) $400...
