The left headlamp on the Trailblazer keeps going out roughly every two maybe three months! It is one of two situations:

1) Lamp filament is open.

2) Socket has been heated to the point that it comes apart and then comes off the blades of the lamp.

Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

Definitely replace the socket with a high temp aftermarket alternative. Have you been repalcing the socket before now? If so, with what? If not, your clean-up process will ultimately fail again, as you know. Assume this is for the 9006 low beam?

Every aftermarket and on-line parts store should have a high temp alternative socket, like the Dorman 84793 - Conduct-Tite High Temperature Socket 9006 Bulb

$8-10 a PAIR. Cheap.

Happens a lot on the older ones. I should have a TSB around here about it. If I don't have it personally, I'm fairly certain one was made regarding it at least.
