With an inguinal hernia flaring up and as I get older I seem to be slowing down and ache more, I am planning on taking on less and less work and traveling more with my girl, Linda. I still have the desire to do the work but those final days are coming, likely within the next 2 years.

I am putting this out there to make sense of what I am going to say next. When I stop, I stop and will pay someone else to do the work, including oil changes. At that point, I will be selling my tools. Both Snap on boxes and all tools in them. 1 floor jack and any related stands, ramps and tools that are outside the boxes.

This set of tools is for a very hard core DIY'er, an existing shop tech or a guy/gal that wants to get in a career that A-I will not replace. The tools are 90% Snap On, Mac, Matco, SK, Craftsman USA, ICON, Blue Point, Gearwrench.......etc.

They will not go cheap and will not be sold separately. Retail price is between $70k to $80k. Out the garage door is no where near that and any reasonable price will be accepted. Again, I am saying this now so that if someone is serious about this, they will have time to mull it over and also get funds together.

I am 73 and my girl is 78. We want to travel. Why not. She is a retired American Airlines flight attendant, with close to 45 years at the company. She and I could fly for free. I like to drive more and she does too. Wouldn't bother me a bit to pass on while in the Majestic Beauty of Crater lake, Oregon.

I hear ya. I'm "just" 61 and my body is telling me "no, I'm not doing this anymore". Case in point, I booked today off to go for a last sled ride before the trails melt this week and my knee decided to go on strike yesterday. All of a sudden while I was working on a Malibu to pull the battery, pop. I'm now probably looking at a knee replacement and contemplating getting out of DIY'ing. I've saved thousand$ over the years but I'm not as able to anymore. Even a simple oil change takes me a while to get back up.

Good luck with the sale. I'm sure some young pup would love getting these tools.

Yea, my 125 pound "girl" is still in great shape and still strong and she wants to butt in and lift this and that for me. I just tell her to set up a radio and keep me company and if I am under the vehicle, I guide her to the tool I need to get up for and she gets it for me. I even bought her a long shop coat and she has a pin on badge that I bought for her. It says "THE HAMMER". She can punch like a welter weight.
I don't do any transmission pulls, engine pulls, clutches....etc. I turn down work when I just don't want to do it or the set up/system is just a piss poor design.

Yes, the tools are all great quality an assortment. I have mostly Snap On but I like a thicker beam on the wrenches so I have USA SK wrenches. They just feel better in my hand.

Must be tough giving up your tools. I'm 67 with a bum knee and bad back but I'm not quite ready to give it up yet. I still get around pretty good, had a guy at work tell me I moved like a cat. Not sure if he meant feline or construction equipment! I retired from paid work 5 yrs ago, now I raise chickens, grow vegetables and work on home projects. Lots of home projects!

I have back problems if I stand in one spot too long. If I sit, I am all good after 5-10 minutes. No knee problems and no arthritis problems. But when that hernia starts to act up, it is a game changer.

Not gonna give up yet but if reality sets in and I see the end, I just want to put the word out that this great set of tools will be for sale, as a one lump sum takes it all. I figure if I made a decision one day and then is for sale, with no warning, then it could cost someone that would be a buyer had there been some sort of notice.

Both Snap On boxes were used when I bought them and in perfect condition. High dollar when new and the big one, 3 tier, has a stainless steel top. I paid a total of $4500 for them. 2 different sellers but added together, that was the buying price.
