CD Load Error... Can you just replace the CD mechanism???

Hey guys, we have the dreaded load / unload CD error... I found a potential fix for it at "the other site," but that wasn't our problem. The CD player will not take the CD in, or eject it at all. I can load it and unload it with tweezers, and it works just fine, but that isn't convincing for the wife... The fix I found was where the case holding the gears for the CD mechanism was broke allowing them to slip over each other. It can be fixed by using a piece of wire between two hold down screws. Pretty clever fix, if that's the source of your problems...

Since the CD mechanism is a component of the radio, I figure I can just swap it out to solve the issue. Does anyone know if you can buy internal radio parts without replacing the whole thing? If so, anyone know where to get them, or what the part number is??? I could buy a new radio and swap the parts out, but I'm hoping I can just get the parts I need a little cheaper. Plus, if I just change the components, I'm thinking I wouldn't have to have the Stealer reprogram for a new radio...

Just replace the radio with an aftermarket... All factory audio is garbage!
1st question... Bose or non bose
2nd question onstar or no, if yes do you care if you do away with it

I got a CD player from a junk yard works good ... cost me $20.

If I had my brain in gear , I think I just had to switch front plates and it should have been good to go.

If I were you and I could not find one at the wreckers, they come up on ebay from time to time at a good price.

I never found a new replacement CD at a reasonable price. Seemed to be around $200. new
