Engine Carbon Build Up

Hi y'all,

I am wondering what are signs of bad carbon build up? And, what are Best Practices to cleaning up carbon build up? (To note: I cleaned up my throttle-body last Summer, it was black as tar).

Also, what parts are most vulnerable to severe carbon build up?

I give my vehicles a dose of sea foam every year. Put in the the gas, brake booster, and crank case.

Detonation would be a sign. A stuck valve is also possible. Have you checked with a boroscope?

You can do a Seafoam treatment through the brake booster hose for the smoke show and then check. It apparently does work to some degree:
