Envoy Transmission issues

Hello all, new to the forum so I figured I would start of with a doozy. I have an 04 Envoy with 221,xxx miles. I have had it since 06 and 24,xxx miles. Been a good vehicle until lately.... Several months ago the engine jumped time so I replaced the engine with a lower mile one, problem solved. Once the vehicle was put back together and taken for a test drive i realized that the transmission slipped (completely) once it hit 4th gear. This was not an issue before the engine swap. The fluids are fine and I am very frustrated at this point.... Also note of interest, the vehicle now resets the clock every time I turn it off and restart. Any ideas on what the heck I'm facing? Any feed back would be great.

Did you replace the engine yourself or did you have it done somewhere?

I'm not sure where the ground connects for the radio's "memory" but I would make sure all of the grounds that were removed during the engine swap were reconnected and on clean metal. Who knows, a wire issue could take care of both problems. Try and double check all of the harnesses to make sure they are firmly connected. Also check for pinched or frayed wires. I assume you did the swap, but if you hired it done, take it back to them.

I started the swap and ran out of time so I paid a local mechanic to finish it. I have taken it back to the guy who said that the transmission needed reprogrammed and he was not able to do it. I spoke to a transmission guy who said it sounded like a clutch went bad (while sitting). I will climb under it tomorrow to ensure all connections are good as well as the grounds. I have a hard time believing the trans went bad during a swap...lol.

Transmission could be a connector or ground. Maybe re-seat the connectors to the PCM. For the radio, did you check the fuses?

I will look at all the connections in the morning and check the fuses as well. When I got it back I was just happy that the engine no longer sounded like it was coming apart! Thanks for the input, I hope it helps

When I replaced a tranny in a Venture awhile back after I got it all back together, tried to start it, and things were going all funky on the cluster and with other interior lights. It wouldn't even start and was sounding all weird. It ended up being 3 ground wires that were connected all to the same lug on the tranny. I even remember telling myself when first attached them that I should take some emery cloth and clean them up before putting them back on but it was late and I was so close to being completely finished. Sure enough, I cleaned them up and everything was fine. There are so many wires on vehicles nowadays it's hard saying what controls what. You could try and look at some wiring schematics to see what goes where so you know where to look but would probably be easier just to look over everything

I'm with you that it would be odd that a clutch went bad while sitting and especially if it was okay before the swap. Who knows though, maybe it was on it's way out to begin with. That would be some crazy timing though so it seems very doubtful. I don't see why the tranny would need reprogrammed after an engine swap but I personally can't say for sure.

Ok, here's where im at so far...I added Lucas to the transmission and it seemed fine for a couple of days, then it would shift fine when it warmed up. Now, I changed the filter, had the trans flushed and it will not shift into 3rd and 4th gears. I had it put on the computer and they said it was the torque converter lock up solenoid...I replaced that and still nothing. There was no metal in the pan (other than what is expected). I am ready to drop a match on it and watch it burn, very frustrated.
