So I plan on doing the fan test after work today but wanted your guy's opinion on it. I know our trucks have that 'roar' before the engine warms up, but I've noticed while I'm in parking lots and I'm going about 10 to 15 mph, I'll get that roar. This is usually after the truck is up to operating temp and I've found the only way to get it to go away is to turn the AC off. It also happened yesterday while I was coming home from work was going about 35 to 40 mph, but eventually it went away and I think it was due to having to get it up to speed really quickly to get around an idiot who wouldn't match merging speed. Any insight would be great.

If you're running the AC it will be commanding the fan to run more, particularly if it is warmer outside.
Makes sense. Being in Florida probably makes it work pretty hard.
So once it's making that roar all the time is when I need to replace it?
How is the hayden one? I know ac delco is the way to go for most things but seems really pricey at $234. So I was looking it either a dorman or hayden one when the time comes.

As expected the aftermarket Hayden one is a lil louder than OEM ones I've heard, but I can't justify paying that much more for an ACdelco one. Plus after some research I found that most ppl recommend the Hayden or Hellla. For me it's not that bad now as before it would stay on high too much but that was attributed to my fan shroud missing a big chunk out the top. Since fixing that it operates as you've stated above and I drive in 90+ degree weather here in Belize.
Yeah, Hayden is the go to here for fan clutches. Dorman are iffy. ACDelco are good but expensive.
It's only loud during initial startup but quiets down to normal in 30-60 sec. As explained, it can get louder when hotter or with A/C operation.
