My 05 Trailblazer (4WD, non EXT, 6 syl) runs fine. However yesterday, the check engine light came on for about 2 hours, then went off on its own. Today t came on once again. I took it to the local parts store, and the hooked up the code reader. They came up with two codes. The first was B0055 Vehicle Speed Sensor Curcuit, which shows as a history code. The second is P0014 Exhaust (B) Camshaft Position Timing - Over Advanced (Bank 1).

What do you guys suggest I do now. I've looked in search function and have seen things that look similar but there seems to be different terminology used in some cases. Is the P0014 code repaired by replacing the sensor behind the power steering pump that I have read about? If so where can I find a detailed (hopefully with pictures) how to on how to do it? If this sensor was bad wouldn't the car run poorly? Other than it's usual horrendous gas mileage, it's running fine.

As to the B0055 code, any information I find on that is very confusing. Any straightforward advice on wither of these would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Some more reading for the p0014

Yes, it's the sensor (actuator) behind the power steering pump. It's commonly referred to as the CPAS (camshaft position actuator solenoid).

Sometimes when they fail they break loose internally from their mounting bracket, symptom of that would be if you try to turn it (don't force it though) it will freely turn, which it shouldn't. Another failure mode for it is oil leaking through it and into the connector, you can take the harness off of it to see if you have oil intrusion. Another thing that can make them mess up is not changing the oil at the correct intervals, which can lead to contaminants clogging the screens on the actuator which can be remedied by taking it out and cleaning it.

Check yours out and see if there's oil in the connector or if it turns. Also, if you wanna go ahead and start looking at how to's search here for "cpas replacement" and see if anything useful comes up.

Go to "News & Support", "Article Submissions" and scroll down to a
article "How to clean CPAS". You will a lot of information.
