Vehicle is a 2006 Trailblazer LS, short wheelbase, 4.2L.
My key-off function that allows the radio to play quit working. The rear wiper quit working. The next problem was the key fob buttons would not command the keyless entry. I pulled the round trim plug on the tailgate trim panel and unlocked the latch. I removed the rubber plugs on the wire harness at the liftgate and the body and all wires appear to be in good condition. I removed the liftgate trim panel. I removed the three wire harness connector plugs on the liftgate control module and re-connected/disconnected/re-connected the plugs. The key fob now will command the door and tailgate locks. The rear wiper works and the radio in the key-off position works.
Before I get stranded, I saw that RockAuto sells liftgate control modules. Is there special, dealer only, programming required when the module is replaced? Or, is the programming required just key fob programming? I can program the key fobs but I cannot program the module, if that is what is necessary.
