I have a post up for random cylinder misfire and got a tip from many helpful users. I just swapped out my 06 5.3 for another used 06 5.3 but am running all of my original components alt, compressor, bcm, ECM, etc. will using my ECM cause dod problems leading to my random misfires and fuel rich/lean condition? Just wondering if I'm gonna have to track down ECM for new motor? Or can this be turned off with tuner like I have read about?

No I bought the vehicle with a bad rod bearing. Because I live on a small island in the Caribbean my only real option money wise was to replace motor with another, no machine shops etc...everything on old motor was running fine but now that new one is in after a few minutes it begins to idle rough. However very couple minutes it straightens up only to begin idling bad again. It wil drive fine on flat land most of the time but as soon as you head uphill with some rpms it loads up with fuel I guess misfiring and popping until it just won't go. It never dies and will idle. Once it stops going up hill, if I turn vehicle off and restart it it will go fine temporarily only to repeat cycle.....this is why I'm beginning to wonder if the dod is engaging? Strange??? Its giving me p0300 code for random cylinder misfire. Just not sure what else to do at this point? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! thanks

I'd doubt your problem is DOD, it sounds like a combustion/vacuum/etc problem.

But, just to prove the DOD is not to blame, drive in 3rd gear. I believe DOD only operates in 4th.

Was the replacement engine complete? injectors, coil packs, etc...Mike.

Did you do a case learn on the new motor yet? Hptuners, dealer or high dollar scanner should be able to do it. Cam and crank timing is probably out of sync if you hve not done this.
