Just got this for my Envoy, installing it on Thursday. I'm super excited! I've read a lot of good things about it so hopefully I have the same experience.

Have a link? My resonator has a rattle and is asking to be removed, just not sure if I want to straight pipe it or get the Corsa 14030 kit I've seen posted in another link, or what... Just wondering.

I have seen that second video before. I think he was a member on the OS and had a build thread for his "RS" TB concept. Is that first video of your Envoy?

I have found the GIbson exhaust for the I6 the cheapest on amazon.com. I wish Gibson made a rear exit exhaust versus their side swept. I guess you could always modify it though.

Did you go with the aluminized or stainless steel?

Agreed, but the side exit looks good too. Could always just cut before the bend and either bolt or weld on a straight pipe though. Whether you want to alter an already +- $550 exhaust, that's a different story.

Edit: found it for $416 + free shipping on AutoAnything.com

Yeah I would hate to start cutting on a brand new exhaust. Plus my rear bump has a cut out for the exhaust and I think it would look goofy with the side swept. I have seen a couple pics with TB owners who have a cutout in their bumper cover for the side swept and it looks clean.

Amazon.com has the aluminized version 315597 for $280 plus free Prime shipping.

Yeah, that's Nick's truck. He and his wife came to one of our meets down here, before they eventually got rid of their LS/RS, and got an SS. Now he's on SSOwners from time to time.

Stainless steel. I wasn't really sure which one to get as I'm kinda new to doing exhausts but I figured that would hold up better even if we don't have road salt here in Florida.

Stainless steel exhaust should outlast your vehicle living in Florida. The price for the aluminzed version is awesome, but living up North and the amount of salt they use on the roads around here, I would have to go with stainless steel.

I had the aluminized steel gibson. All I have left is the little stub that goes from the tri-flange to the muffler. Everything else rotted through and fell apart. First the tip, then the muffler exit and last the muffler inlet. It lasted 5 or 6 years before it started to fall apart.

I had a bad experience with aluminized as well. Bought a cat back side exit dynomax for an 83 s15 and it rusted through in 6 months. I stay away from them now. Bi-metal oxidation I believe it's called or something of that nature.

I'm glad I ponied up the extra cash then. I was wavering back and forth but figured if I was going to spend the money I might as well get the best.

Can't hurt getting the best (except your wallet)

Had it installed today. After a minor hiccup with the first installation attempt rattling against my shocks, it's been adjusted and sounds absolutely amazing.

speaking of exhaust questions, I did a muffler swap and a resonator delete a few years ago, I like how the exhaust sounds but it's a little loud for me. Would adding an aftermarket resonator dampen the sound a little bit?

Muffler = volume
Resonator = tone (drone)
I'm not sure if that was clear enough :biggrin:

I'll call the exhaust shop tomorrow, then I'm gonna give PCM of NC a call after I find something I like.

I added a Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator. It removed all drone and even slightly lowered the volume of my magnaflow muffler. I highly recommend it.

Drone isn't too bad in the car. Non-existant at highway speed, which I was concerned about.

any chance you could post a video or audio clip?

Doesn't have to be anytime soon.

I could be mistaken but I think CD was talking about the Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator. It removed all drone and even slightly lowered the volume of my magnaflow muffler. I highly recommend it. :undecided:

Looks like you right. I seen the text, but did not read the quote. I assumed he might not have read through the entire thread.

Good catch :thumbsup:

lol I'm gonna get one. Any chance you know that part number?

Why is it none of these links include the 2002? did they change the exhaust path in 2003? or they are just forgetting a 2002 exists?

like the kit if the gains are true, just not a fan of the sound, but then again any aftermarket kits so far that I have heard just sound like tractors and not good. lol. Just the trouble having an I6. Need a stock sound, but gains in performance would be perfect. lol

Not asking for much there....

I personally have heard several aftermarket that sound good and the stock is nothing. Stock is kinda anti-sound really.

I am happy with the sound of the stock muffler and the resonator cut off. I do too much highway driving to pay for an aftermarket muffler and have the annoying drone I have read about on most aftermarket brand muffler.
