Is anyone using an aftermarket, deep transmission pan?

I have seen several, but this one here looks really cool. You can also add a port for a temperature sensor.

The pan has posts that will support the deep filter.

Anyone think this would be a bad idea?

They have options on where you want to have the temp port placed, which one would be best for a 4.2 4x4 ?

I am, but I'm using the Dorman one with the drain plug. No leaking issues with it.

Same here, Dorman Brand with the drain plug on our 4.2 with no issues.

Already a temp sensor built in to the trans, access readily available through OBD2. X3 on Dorman pan. Mine was stock deep pan but picked up the dorman to have the drain plug.

I'm using the Dorman one too.
I change the tranny fluid every 25,000, so the drain plug comes in real handy.
Filter change at 50,000.
180,000 on the Beast now and am hoping the happy tranny, happy life adage holds true.

I'm not sure who made mine (bought it from Ebay, about $35) it added 2 quarts, has a drain plug and it's chrome plated. ( The chrome adds HP right? )

I installed a drain plug kit on my stock deep pan. I shouldn't have waited until the third time I changed the filter to install it. What a splash saver!

Don't really need a drain plug. I just pull the cooler line and pump all the fluid out.

It's been the trick I learned on the OS. Used in the process of flushing the tranny.

I did the same when I flushed it, but I didn't think of it for a pan drop.
