What have you done with plasti dip? been checkin out DipYourCar.com and a whole truck dip would be cool, its awesome that it stands up to pressure washing and can be applied right over paint (no sanding/primer) and if you don't like it or want your paint back just peel it off!

Just wondering what everyone has done with plasti dip, thinking of plasti-dipping or nite-shading the "wood grain" on interior because i just don't like it all that much. any thoughts? lmk what you've dipped, and pictures are always awesome!
 
Front bowtie, side moldings and bowties in molding, front bumper, plan to do the molding on the bottom of the sides and the rear bumper this week. Thinking of doing the wheels as I type this.

I did the lower half of my truck. For what its worth, you have to be careful with the power washer. You get to close and it will peel.

awesome guys, looks good. did you tape off your lines for the plasti or did it peel off fine for the emblems? i've heard you can't let it dry, and as soon as i get a dry day this week i wanna black out the emblems and do the stock rims (until i get my new rims in a couple months!) for now. just curious before i go waste the plasti if i should be taping it up good or if it peels nicely.
 
I just used some 2-3 inch painters tape to tape it off. All the overspray past that can be rubbed off after it dries. It took me two tries to get the front bowtie right. The hardest part was the side where it says "tb". I taped over the letters then cut the excess so there was tape only on the silver letters so after I was done spraying and pulled off the tape, the silver letters and silver trim around the bowtie were still there
 
Did my whole truck flat black, check out so I got bored thread. I would post pics but they always come out f#@ed up, so I gave up haha

Thanks. My header panel has a crack right above the passenger headlight so I'll replace that and put my Plasti Dipped grille on this week.
 
I had just ordered a dozen colors from dipyourcar over the weekend to experiment with. We know we are going to do our whole car. It started off with us justing thinking we're going to dip her Matte Black, but then it evolved into wanting to try grey, white, camo green and now we're even considering Orange. So I bought a few cans to play with before buying a few gallons.
 
Did my rims this weekend as well.

Did you also do (or have done) your Bugflector?
 
Haven't done the bug deflector. In actually going to do that, my grill, and the rest of the gray moulding with krylon fusion black satin.
 
Anyone tried plastidipping the plastic body trim, like along the bottom edge or around the bumpers? If so, how did it hold up? I've considered painting my plastic to a darker shade, but the dip might be an interesting solution.

Do u mean like my black on my bumper?? If so yes. I did both the front and back bumpers it has held up well with normal driving but with my off roading and sliding things out of my truck and dragon them on the bumper it peels

Tried charcoal as well which is too close to matte black, and I'm feeling matte black has been done to death by every ghetto thug. So maybe OD Green or Orange. Seen a few orange Land Rover's I liked on over on the expedition forums.

Negative, but that orange is looking more and more appealing. Since these guys are on the other side of the state I ordered a sample of the Blaze Orange and Green to try out. Just for shits.

I am thinking the orange might look really good.
 
I wanted to do matte white but its really hard to cover a truck without sprayer , went with the matte black for easier coverage. And ibhavent been callwd a ghetto thug in years lol ..

LoL, more of a reference than description of anyone person, sorry. I think it works on the SS, but I think it's going to be to much for us once the bumpers are installed. Plus, I started to consider how hot (Literally) matte black might be roaming around the Utah desert. White ate nearly the whole can. I am excited to try the blaze orange. The more I look at other examples, the more I think it might be the ticket.
 
Hey guys I know this is my first post but ive been on TV for years and finally am doing a complete overhaul on my trailblazer. Its an 04 LS and needs to be competely redone. I finally took the plunge and got suspension, rims, new lights front and back, body pannels, mirrors and finally ive decieded to do the Dipyourcar matte white for the intire truck then the black for the interior down the road. I am right now in the process of doing all the body work and suspenion (should be done this saturday) and am probably going to be spraying the truck the weekend on the 22nd :D ill def post pics when done. I live literally 15 mins from the Dipyourcar.com office so ill be picking up anything else i may need to finish the spray. I have read a lot of good things about the dip and not alot of negitive so well see!! Anyone have any negitive experience with using it?
 
I can only tell you my experience with actual cans of Plastidip, not gallons. Plastidip is pretty thick, especially when cold. I took my cans and put them in a coffee can of hot water before I sprayed. This seemed to make it spray easier. One problem I ran into was the Plastidip coming out kind of "spitty". This cleared up after i held the can upside down to clean the tip, do this often as the Plastidip can and will freeze the tip up after it dries. Don't be afraid to spray it thick if your parts are fairly level because Plastidip self levels pretty well. You might want to score the edge of your tape before you peel the tape off or you will tear the Plastidip back off with it. Otherwise it's as user friendly as any other spray paint.

i like what you guys have done! i went for it on the stock tires and did the grill, but the chrome on the grill didn't peel straight so i removed it X_X

will do it again when i grab a few more cans to black out the emblems.

at $6 bucks a can, its kinda hard to pass up :rotfl: and its pretty much idiot proof...

In post 2 I have pics of the front bumper and part of the side trim. Looks a lot better than the faded gray!
