What Transmission do I have ?

I just purchased a 2005 Trailblazer LT, 4.2 inline 6, 2 WD.

What transmission does it have ? I would like to put in a deep pan for the transmission along with a transmission cooler.

Its been dealer maintained.

We have the 4L60E, like most GMTs. Likely you already have the deep pan. Do a little search and you will find different coolers that have been put in.

4L60E as mentioned. I have yet to see a GMT360 have anything but a deep pan.

Although not seen myself, there have been reports of a few that did have the shallow pan. Could have been leftover parts from another model but IIRC, there was no pattern as to which ones got the shallow pans. The vast majority are deep pans. Easy to tell though. If the pan has a step, it is the deep pan. Completely flat, it's shallow.

If you are one of the unlucky ones to have a shallow pan, easy enough to swap it along with a deep pan filter. Either a used pan or even new aftermarket ones are available.

Just over 126K. Owners manual list the transmission fluid capacity at 5 qts. Thats got to be a typo !

That's the typical amount if you just do a pan drop. It does take a fair bit more if you empty the trans and converter and do a complete refill.
